The Food Sciences Laboratory (LSA) is directed by Professor Djidjoho Joseph HOUNHOUIGAN who created it in 2005 under the name of Laboratory of Food Microbiology and Biotechnologies (LMBA). Said laboratory was set up with funding from the Danish Cooperation (DANIDA) Capability Building for Research and Development in Traditional Fermented Processing in West Africa (RECCA) project.
Mr. Djidjoho Joseph Hounhouigan is a full professor at the universities of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES). A doctor in agricultural engineering by training, he is a specialist in Biochemistry, Microbiology and Food Technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in agronomic research and support to agrifood processing companies in the characterization and improvement of traditional technologies for processing food products, especially fermented ones.
Professor Djidjoho Joseph HOUNHOUIGAN is Honorary Dean of the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of the University of Abomey-Calavi. He is also the coordinator of the inter-faculty master’s degree in Standards and Quality Control of Agro-food products.
